On Never Looking a Gift Crow in the Beak

I want a gift from
a crow, surprises from starlings,
presents from pigeons

Saw this wonderful story in the news about a wee girl in Seattle who feeds the crows in her garden and they have taken to leaving her little gifts on the bird feeder that she catalogues and keeps in boxes. I’ve never spotted any treasures left by our feathered visitors but then again maybe I’ve just never looked properly…. maybe magical things like this are happening around us all the time, if only we took the time to see them,,,
